25 January
SOS Day 2008
This is the day that there will be a national fundraising initiative to raise money for the Lifeboats. We will be contacting businesses and organisations that may be able to help us. If you would like to know more about this event or would like to participate, please contact us as soon as possible. We can then send a promotional pack so that you can see what you have to do.
19 April
Topsham Sailing Club, Topsham, Exeter
RNLI Topsham Branch are holding a coffee morning in the clubhouse. There will be a cake stall and draw, and we will have a stall selling Lifeboat souvenirs. All members of the public are welcome. 10:00 to 12:00.
22 April
Great Western Hotel, St Davids, Exeter
We will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Conference Room of the Great Western Hotel. After the formal business of the meeting, there will be a general discussion about the work of the Branch and the RNLI. After that, there will be the first meeting of the newly elected Committee. Everyone is welcome to attend. Starts at 19:00.
15 to 17 May
Devon County Show, Westpoint, Exeter
This year the RNLI will have a display at the Show near the Orange Gate. The centrepiece of the display will be a Lifeboat Simulator. You can experience what it is like to launch a Lifeboat and go on a rescue mission! This is a very popular attraction and now you can have a go yourself! We will be selling draw tickets and we will have a car on the stand to show what you can win. We will have a D-Class Lifeboat on display for you to take a close look at. We can sign you up to become a member of the RNLI. Stormy Stan has promised to make an appearance in the Show. RNLI volunteers will be available throughout the Show to talk about the work of the RNLI. Make sure you come and see us if you are coming to the Show. 10:00 to 17:00.
16 May
Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club, Starcross, Exeter
Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club (SFCC) are holding a Wine and Cheese evening this evening. The proceeds of which will go to the RNLI. We will be there with a souvenir stall selling Lifeboat souvenirs. All club members are invited to attend. 20:00 to 23:00.
23 and 24 May
Tesco, Blundells Road, Tiverton
As part of the national fundraising event, we will be collecting at the store on these two days. Please feel free to donate if you see us. Our colleagues from the RNLI Topsham Branch will be collecting at the same time at Tesco, Rydon Lane, Exeter. 10:00 to 16:00.
24 May
Devon Boat Jumble, Newton Abbot Racecourse
Due to logistical reasons, we will not be having a stall at the Jumble this time. However, we will be there making a collection for the RNLI. 10:00 to 14:00.
30 and 31 May
Somerfield Supermarket, Crediton
The manager of the store has gratiously allowed us to make a collection at the store on these two days. Please feel free to give us a donation if you see us. 10:00 to 16:00.
31 May
Kenton Vineyard, Kenton, Exeter
As part of the RNLI Open Gardens, Kenton Vineyard are having an open garden with a difference! You will be able to tour the vineyard to see how the grapes grow, and then afterwards visit the shop and taste the wine produced. We will be there in support and will have a Lifeboat souvenir stall. 10:00 to 17:00.
28 June
Topsham School, Topsham, Exeter
The school have their feté today. We will be there with a stall selling Lifeboat souvenirs. Just the place to buy your pencils and pens. 11:00 to 14:00.
5 and 6 July
Powderham Castle, Exeter
The Classic Car Club of Devon have their annual Vehicle Gathering at the castle this weekend. We will be there with our souvenir stall.
19 July
Powderham, Exeter
Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club are holding their annual BBQ. As in previous years, they have invited us to attend this event. Usually it is a lovely evening in very pleasant surroundings. It is restricted to members of the Club only.
2 August
Silverton Street Market, Silverton, Exeter
As in previous years, we will be at the annual Street Market with our Lifeboat stall. It is open to all members of the public and should be an enjoyable time. 10:00 to 16:00.
16 August
Christow Show, Christow, Exeter
We will be at this one day agricultural show with our Lifeboat souvenirs. This is a typical Devon country fair. Due to the bad weather, we did not attend the show. The same happened last year! Let's hope for better weather next year.
24 to 25 August
The Green, Dawlish Warren, Dawlish
As in previous years, over this Bank holiday, we will have a stall selling Lifeboat souvenirs. It is hoped that we will have the first consignment of Christmas 2008 cards for those amongst you who like to buy them early. 10:00 to 16:00 each day.
20 September
Newton Abbot Boat Jumble
As usual, we will be attending the Boat Jumble. We will be selling Lifeboat souvenirs, Christmas cards and calendars, and making a collection on behalf of the RNLI. Remember we will have all the cards and calendars produced in our catalogues. You will be able to view them before you buy, and you won't pay postage. 10:00 to 16:00.
21 September
Crealy Adventure Park, Exeter
We are at the park at the invitation of the Exeter and District Model Boat Club who are holding one of their competitions today. We will be selling Lifeboat souvenirs, Christmas cards and calendars, and making a collection on behalf of the Lifeboats. 10:00 to 16:00.
5 October
Starcross Yacht Club, Starcross, Exeter
Starcross YC are holding their annual RNLI Pursuit Race. Everyone taking part makes a donation to the RNLI and we also receive donations from the galley and direct from members attending the event. We will be there selling Lifebaot souvenirs, Christmas cards and calendars. We hope the weather will be kind to us all. 9:30 to 14:00.
5 October
Stan Hacking Concert Band, Barnfield Theatre, Exeter
The Stan Hacking Concert Band, a local and popular band, will be playing a charity concert for the RNLI this evening. The music played will be on a maritime theme. The band are donating their services for free. There will be a draw and we will be making a collection for the RNLI at the end of the performance. All proceeds will go to the RNLI. Tickets are £7 per seat and are available from The Model Shop, Sidwell Street, Exeter, or telephone 01392 447672, or from the Barnfield Theatre. For more information, contact us. Starts at 19:30.
6 November
Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club, Starcross, Exeter
SFCC members are having an RNLI evening, the proceeds of which go to the Lifeboats. We will be there with a stall selling Lifeboat souvenirs, Christmas cards, calendars and diaries. 20:00 to 23:00.
8 November
Topsham Sailing Club, Topsham, Exeter
The RNLI Topsham Branch are holding a coffee morning at the sailing club. Everyone is welcome. There will be cakes for sale and a draw. We will be there selling Chirstmas cards and calendars. 10:00 to 12:00.
